Laser hair reduction is a common medical spa treatment that you’ve likely heard of before, but you might not know there’s a whole spectrum of treatments that fit under the term “laser hair reduction.”
Just like other medical spa procedures, no two laser hair treatments are the same. At TLJ Aesthetics MD, we are proud to now offer the new Bare HR™️ platform from Sciton, the fastest and most advanced laser hair reduction in Issaquah.
Keep reading to learn more about laser hair reduction, how it’s performed, who should perform it, and how the Bare HR device differs from other similar treatments.
Laser hair reduction refers to a variety of treatments that all use laser energy to attack the pigment in your hair follicle.
Once absorbed, the energy converts into heat, which destroys the follicle’s growth center. Unlike shaving, waxing, or other hair removal options, laser hair reduction in Issaquah eliminates hair at the source rather than just cutting or removing the existing hair.
Many laser hair reduction devices have restrictions for treating different skin types, tones, and textures, as well as different hair colors. The Bare HR device at TLJ Aesthetics MD can treat all skin types and tones, even tanned skin!
Effective laser hair reduction takes about 6-8 sessions, and that’s all because of the hair growth cycle. Here’s a quick breakdown of the growth cycle and how that affects your treatment.
Cells in the root area of the hair divide rapidly, causing the hair to grow. Hair follicles during this phase—also referred to as the anagen phase—are rich in protein and melanin (aka pigment), which makes them especially receptive to the laser. That melanin is what absorbs the laser and produces heat to damage the follicle. About 85% of your hair follicles are in the growth phase at any time.
After the anagen phase, follicles enter catagen. We call this the transition phase because it is when the hair stops actively growing. Catagen lasts approximately 2-3 weeks and only about 5% of body hair will be in catagen phase at any given time.
The third and final phase of hair growth is telogen, the resting phase. During telogen, the hair begins to shed, so the cycle restarts. We know healthy hair on the scalp stays in telogen for 100 days or so. Hair on other parts of the body vary significantly regarding how long they’re in telogen. The 10% of hair that isn’t in the first 2 phases is in telogen.
Even though the process is similar, no two laser hair reduction treatments are the same. If you think of options for laser hair reduction in Issaquah as cars, Bare HR is the “Porsche!”
Bare HR is the fastest laser hair reduction device on the market today. With a footprint that’s much larger than its counterparts, Bare HR can complete treatment on a man’s full back—typically an hour-long treatment—in less than 5 minutes.
This revolutionary laser hair reduction technology also features a blend of 3 different wavelengths, making it a highly effective treatment for varying hair depths and a wider range of patients. The blend allows for deep penetration and low impact on epidermal melanin, which makes it safe for treatment on dark and tanned skin all year round.
And while the Bare HR device is the fastest laser hair reduction in Issaquah, it doesn’t sacrifice comfort for speed. Bare HR uses advanced constant contact cooling technology that maintains an optimal skin temperature, which both ensures your comfort and allows the device to work faster. One of the limitations of other laser hair reduction technology is its inability to regulate temperature, but that concern is a thing of the past with Bare HR!
With Bare HR, we can quickly and comfortably perform laser hair reduction in Issaquah almost anywhere on the body, including:
Advanced technology is great, but without the knowledge of a trained and experienced provider, you won’t get the most out of your laser hair reduction treatment.
At TLJ, our treatments are provided directly by an experienced medical provider (one that diagnoses, treats, and prescribes for medical and cosmetic concerns), an extra measure taken to ensure you are in the most qualified hands.
Dr. Terry L. Jacobson, the founder of TLJ Aesthetics MD, is a board-certified medical doctor specializing in internal medicine and aesthetic medicine. In fact, she has successfully practiced medicine in the eastside area since 1998.
We also employ the most highly trained PAs and patient coordinators to ensure you feel confident and comfortable with your experience from the moment you walk in the door. Our background means we can deliver a highly personalized approach to your treatment.
Before deciding if Bare HR is the right laser hair reduction in Issaquah for you, we want to get to know more about your specific needs. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your treatment goals and assess your skin and hair to ensure Bare HR treatment is the right path forward.

With the Bare HR device, our skilled medical providers can perform laser hair reduction on a wide variety of patients! Because of Bare HR’s blend of 3 wavelengths, there is no limitation to what skin types can be treated, even tanned skin.
Patients with lighter hair color, including blonde, gray, or white hair, are not eligible for laser hair reduction with Bare HR. The device works best on patients with darker pigmented hair; pretty much any shade of brown or black hair is ideal for laser hair reduction in Issaquah.
Thanks to Bare HR’s revolutionary technology, your treatment is done in a flash! Treatments that used to take up to an hour to complete, like a man’s full back, take only minutes with Bare HR.
Not only is Bare HR the fastest laser hair reduction treatment on the market, it’s also incredibly comfortable. Using advanced constant contact cooling technology that maintains an optimal skin temperature, Bare HR both ensures your comfort and completes your treatment quickly.
Advanced technology isn’t everything, however. When you come to TLJ, your treatment is in the hands of experienced medical providers who have the skill required to make sure your treatment is done correctly and painlessly. We make every extra effort possible to ensure your comfort during all of our treatments.
Effective laser hair reduction takes about 6-8 sessions, and that’s all because of the hair growth cycle. Once your initial treatment series is complete, you may require a single or a few maintenance treatments a few years post treatment to maintain optimal results.
With other laser hair reduction devices, treatments are recommended seasonally to avoid sun exposure on your treated skin. With the Bare HR device, however, our providers can perform laser hair reduction any time of the year. It even works on tanned skin!
If you want to show off your beautiful, bare skin during the warmer spring and summer months, however, we do recommend performing treatment during the fall or winter. That way, you’re ready to #BAREit when the weather warms up.
