Dr. Terry-Jacobson

Terry L Jacobson, MD, RPh, FACP – Physician, Owner, Founder

Meet Dr. Terry Jacobson, otherwise known as “Dr. J,” owner and founder of TLJ Aesthetics MD.

Dr. J started her private medical practice in 1998 in Issaquah. Since then, it has been growing organically from the ground up.  In 2010, she co-developed HighMark Medical Center where “TLJ” currently resides.

Dr. Jacobson is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine with an emphasis on dermatologic care, aesthetic medicine, women’s health, and internal medicine/ primary care.  At TLJ, you can find a range of services available, particularly with women in mind. However, she loves her guy patients as well!  Dr J enjoys offering aesthetic care and feminine care/women’s health. Patients can also take advantage of the small boutique concierge internal medicine/primary care practice she developed, known as “CloseCare.”  Her patients always love learning that she has the additional training and education as a pharmacist.

She loves making women more naturally beautiful and men more naturally handsome, improving self-esteem and self-confidence in her patients, also contributing to overall better health and well-being. The science geek in her loves ongoing learning, always perfecting and developing better techniques, utilizing only the best technologies available.

Originally from the Southwest, Dr J’s 15 years of education, pharmacy school, medical school, and residency training all started at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Nevada, University of Utah, and then finally Oregon Health Sciences University. Portland is where she and her husband fell in love with the Pacific Northwest.

When you experience care at TLJ, you will see why so many of Dr J’s patients describe her and the TLJ team as extended family and friends.  You will always find joy and laughter here. We are caring for you, inside and out.

When she is not at TLJ seeing patients, you can find Dr J in her garden, cooking, wine tasting, reading/studying, cuddling with her 3 Tonkinese kitties (Ozzy, Ernie, and Lilly) and spending time with her husband, Jamie.

Providers

Michelle, PA-C –  Provider

Meet Michelle, Certified Physician Assistant with over 17 years of experience working in aesthetics and internal medicine after training at Midwestern University and attaining her master of science, physician assistant studies.

Michelle is particularly suited to our practice given her never wavering standard to deliver only the highest quality care as a medical provider, demonstrating every day that meticulous attention to detail is the only acceptable standard of care.

While Michelle is trained to manage serious medical ailments, even life threatening conditions,  she has found that working in medical aesthetics gives her tremendous joy.  Watching her patients’ self-esteem, confidence, and quality of life soar by attaining the very best versions of themselves possible is extremely gratifying.

Michelle has trained extensively under Dr Jacobson even before her official addition to our team at TLJ and is dedicated to ongoing education and mastery of the most advanced techniques in aesthetics.  She is a master Botox injector and Laser/BBL/Energy Device provider. She is a natural teacher and plays an important role training other providers in our TLJ Apprenticeship.

It is only fitting that Michelle has a special interest in women’s intimate health, also known as feminine rejuvenation. This treatment provides relief to women suffering from bladder leakage that may impair their ability to exercise and be as active as they want to be.   Fitness is a priority for her, in fact, her undergraduate education was at University of Washington, where she earned her bachelor of science in exercise science.  Michelle strives to support women in fitness and in health and this has become a satisfying way to assist her patients with this and other intimate health concerns.

When she is not at TLJ seeing patients, you can find Michelle baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Brooke, PA-C – Provider

Meet Brooke, Certified Physician Assistant, who’s skills in both invasive surgical treatments and non or minimally invasive medical office-based treatments began in Orthopedic Surgery and Neurosurgery, later to make her way to Aesthetic Medicine with TLJ Aesthetics MD.  Brooke’s interests in medicine has always been to help her patients whether with life threatening conditions, less acute ailments, or overall life changing and enhancing medical aesthetic techniques.  She enjoys her work at TLJ, helping her patients with their aesthetic goals and finds the result of improved self-esteem, confidence, and well-being particularly rewarding.

She received her undergraduate degrees in exercise science and athletic training from Linfield University in McMinnville, OR then went on to obtain her Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies from University of New England.

Her compassion and care for others was demonstrated in her college years, making time and effort abroad in Kenya, setting up remote medical clinics and working at an orphanage.  Deeply touched by her experiences there helped shape her as a provider that TLJ is proud to have on our team.

Brooke’s meticulous eye on facial feature symmetry, harmony, proportion, and function make her an outstanding injector of neuromodulators and dermal fillers. She has also trained extensively at TLJ on laser technologies.

You’ll always find Brooke carefully listening and digesting patient’s concerns.  Treatment plans she creates are never rushed, always very well thought out.  When you see Brooke, you will likely feel like you are the only patient in the office.

When she is not seeing patients at TLJ, Brooke loves to spend time with her husband and young family. They enjoy snow skiing and outdoor adventures.  She also loves to cook and organize spaces.

Rhea, DNP, FNP-BC, CMSRN Provider

Rhea Hanchett is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  Prior to joining TLJ, she practiced Family Medicine for over four years.  Rhea trained at Rush University, where she attained her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree after spending over six years providing nursing care on a general internal medicine unit there.  Her outstanding experience was the perfect foundation to practice the kind of medicine she always hoped for.  When you meet Rhea, you will quickly sense her warmth, eagerness to assist, listening and communication skills, as well as a genuine interest in people.

Rhea is particularly suited to TLJ given her unwavering standard to deliver excellence, always demonstrating top quality and patient satisfaction scores in healthcare. Her experience with large medical organizations led Rhea to the realization that quality of care means being able to spend ample time with her patients. Quality over quantity is essential and that is why practicing concierge medicine is non-negotiable. Critical in providing the most personalized care is knowing her patients and collaborating in shared decision-making, a partnership whose aim is achieving optimal health and wellness for her patients.

Rhea’s passions include women’s health, perimenopause and menopause, mental health, general medicine, and dermatology. She is a healthy lifestyle proponent and likes to focus on preventative medicine for a proactive, not reactive, approach. She recognizes the disconnect between education (and misinformation) on hormone replacement and the needs of women who are not being treated effectively, appropriately, or even at all in our communities. Helping women maintain their vitality and confidence in a safe, effective, and informed manner means they can achieve their best self, inside and out.

When she is not seeing patients at TLJ, you can find Rhea at the gym, exploring nature, trying new restaurants, at the ballet, outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her family (husband, twin boys, and cat).

Chloe Master Aesthetician Provider

Chloe, Master Aesthetician Provider

Chloe has enjoyed the practice of aesthetics for over 5 years beginning with education from Gary Manuel Aveda Institute, further pursuing her Master Aesthetician training at Washington Laser Institute.  Chloe completed a lengthy TLJ Aesthetic MD’s apprenticeship, emphasizing energy based device treatments including, but not limited to, Broad Band Light, Fractional Ablative, Diode, and Nd:YAG lasers, as well as Radiofrequency.

Her attention to detail and determination to provide an excellent result are quite evident. Her laughter and sense of humor, contagious.  With Chloe, patients at TLJ instantly feel comfortable that they are in the right hands.

Chloe has a very sweet side, always eager to assist someone in need. Part of what shaped this characteristic, no doubt, was her experience at age 5. A little boy on the playground offered to tie her shoe.  She and Kevin have been best friends ever since.

When she is not seeing patients at TLJ, you can find Chloe enjoying friends and family, the outdoors, reading a good book, live music, art, wherever the weather is warm, and cuddling with her kitties Blossom and Daphne.

Joan – Aesthetician Provider

Meet Joan, an Aesthetician at TLJ.  A training at Evergreen Beauty College, she soon found herself in the role of Lead Aesthetician for a luxury hotel spa, tending to the skincare needs of both traveling and local clients.  Her nurturing nature is one of her greatest attributes, which caught our attention at TLJ Aesthetics MD.  So, we were thrilled that Joan decided to pursue more therapeutic treatments in our medical environment.  She feels that she can impact patients far more when she is able to see them regularly and with the technology and excellence that only a medical setting can provide.

At TLJ, Joan has been a real asset to all our acne patients and others with a wide array of aesthetic concerns.  Medical Hydrafacial treatments and chemical peels are a few of her favorite tools. She also loves to help patients take better care of their skin at home, incorporating clinical skin care solutions that make sense for their aesthetic goals.

Prior to Aesthetics, Joan spent over 25 years in Veterinary Medicine as Veterinary Assistant and in administrative roles.  She spent over 10 years dedicated to wildlife rehabilitation. A few highlights from that experience include bottle feeding baby squirrels and rehabbing an injured one-eyed Red-tailed Hawk, releasing it back into the wild. Joan’s unofficial title at TLJ is “The Gazelle,” given her grace and beauty.

When not treating patients at TLJ, you’ll find Joan spending time with her 2 adult boys, boating, waterskiing and paddleboarding.

Her associate degree in business administration, experience in other medical practices, retail, and as a barista, too, are all part of what make her a secret sauce at TLJ!  She also has an artistic dance side, enjoying dancing Hula since she was 3 years old.

Kari Rabelos

Kari – Patient Coordinator

Meet Kari, Patient Coordinator at TLJ Aesthetics MD, for over 5 years. Her unofficial title is “Patient Relations Coordinator” given that you will feel her genuine interest in you, your life, your concerns the second you meet her.  She is a friend magnet! She is driven to make everyone around her feel heard, cared for, and taken care of.  When you meet Kari, you’ll not be surprised to learn that her bachelor degree is in human development & psychology from Washington State University.

Kari’s extensive 20 years of prior experience as both a Medical Assistant and Medical Administrative Assistant in settings including, but not limited to, Emergency, Radiology, OB/GYN practices mean she can think on her feet, manage challenging scenarios, all while keeping her composure and taking care of the needs of others.  Working with women, health, and beauty was nurtured further as a women and girls clothing boutique business owner, prior to returning to her medicine roots and joining TLJ. We are fortunate to work with Kari and are grateful that she was extremely confident that she was the perfect fit for our TLJ family when she introduced herself (and …. we mean extremely!).  She was right!

When Kari is not attending to the needs of our patients at TLJ, you will find her with her husband, children, and cattle dog (Bandit).  She loves to cook and entertain family and friends, fish, hike, and hunt. She has a special connection with her twin sister; they are certain that they “share the same brain.”

Kathy – Patient Coordinator

Meet Kathy, Senior Patient Coordinator at TLJ Aesthetics MD for 20 years!  She has served as Dr J’s right-hand gal, can read her mind, and finish her sentences!  Kathy’s unofficial roll is “Mamma Bear.” Her humble and dedicated nature to both team TLJ and our patients has been unparalleled.  On the occasion that she is out of the office, taking a break, her absence is noticed by every patient walking through the door, as she has a personal connection to all who meet her.

Kathy is naturally curious and interested in everyone. Perhaps this is, in part, because she grew up in a military family and lived in many different states and places.  But she loves WA… even in the rain!

Her associate degree in early childhood education and background teaching preschool is no surprise given her caring nature. Interest in medicine was nurtured during her time spent as a dental administrative assistant prior to TLJ.  The first meeting we had with Kathy she was hired on the spot and became an outstanding teammate instantly!

When Kathy is not at TLJ, you will find her with her outdoor hummingbird friends, spending time with her husband, family, and friends.

What is a PA-C or PA?

Dr. Jacobson has utilized the expertise of Physician Assistance at TLJ Aesthetics MD for over 15  years. Not to be confused with Medical Assistants, which are administrative and support personnel within the practice, PA’s are medical providers and extenders of service under the supervision of attending physicians in hospital and outpatient settings. At TLJ, they help provide medical and aesthetics services within a specific scope of practice, determined by Dr. Jacobson, and allow for additional choices for appointment dates and times for your convenience.

Every PA has completed a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of their choice, then completed a 2-3 year graduate program to obtain their Master’s degree. Their training is based on the same educational model as physicians to diagnose, prescribe, order labs and diagnostic studies and treat medical and cosmetic concerns. Patient care is delivered after more specific training and with collaboration between the PA and the attending physician.

Despite the fact that PA training programs have been in existence since the 1960s, their role can still be misunderstood because of their title. However, at TLJ Aesthetics MD, PA’s have been an essential part of our team for many years. We think you will feel that way too.
